ACADEMIC COUNCIL

The Academic Council of EMRS is, like it is in most of the schools across the country, an integral and indispensable part of the school life.

The Council, comprising the Principal as Chairman, two Coordinators and the members of the Hindi, English, Science and Social-Science faculties, strive to achieve wholesome education and the all-round development of the students, by undertaking numerous literary activities in the true spirit of camaraderie, achievement and fulfillment, imparting literary skills, critical thinking, analytical thinking etc. in the process.

The Council has a detailed Action Plan for all the literary activities to be carried out for the year. As per the prevalent practice at EMRS, the events are spread across the months in the school calendar.

At the beginning of the academic session, all the members of the Academic Council (generally three – one each from the Hindi, English and Science Department respectively are assigned for one event), are entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating the events. The students are groomed and encouraged to conduct most of the literary activities to gain adequate exposure and self-confidence.

The activities are designed, keeping the greater interest of the students in mind, in such a way that their studies do not get hampered. The Academic Head is the overall in-charge of the scholastic activities, scheduled to be held for a particular academic session. The Academic Council of EMRS, under the bright guidance of the school administration, has been rendering invaluable service over the years, and contributing immensely to the growth, development and success of the school. The council promotes academic excellence and maintain academic standard of the school. 

In the beginning of the session the Academic Council comprising of expert teachers of 3 to 4 members and where the Principal as Chairman prepares the “Time-Table” on the basis of syllabus / board guidelines like, the availability of total classes, and teacher’s strength, allotted periods for each subject on weekly basis, the grade of subject on the basis of difficult level, Special time table, supervises study time table etc. Further, the daily routine / special time table separately for winter as well as summer and teacher’s individual time table too is prepared. The consolidated timetable has to be displayed in a prominent place in the eye catch note for the public view permanently till the end of the session.

The Academic Council thoroughly supervises the year long academic activity meticulously as a representative of the head of the institution in different capacities/ways like:

  • Planning of the Entire Academic Activities for the session.
  • Planning of the “Annual-Calendar”.
  • Planning to integrate the Teaching–Learning process with Technology.
  • To plan the syllabus coverage, correction work and classroom teaching etc.
  • Arrangement of Faculty Enrichment Programme.
  • Planning for Motivation to some Innovative Ideas in Teaching–Learning Process.
  • To oversee the subject committee works.
  • To oversee the regular running of class along with subject–syllabus covers as per split-up syllabus.
  • To oversee/check the periodical written work like Assignment, class work as per predetermined time scheduled.
  • To organise the guest lecturers to enhance the subject knowledge of the concerned subject teachers and students as well.
  • To recommend the authority to make any academic changes in particular area, if required.
  • To oversee the onward submission of lesson plans for correction to the Principal.
  • Identify the slow learner, in different subjects of various standards and also chalk out constructive programs for their upliftment.
  • In short the academic council helps the authority in different capacities for the smooth running of academics in the school.
  • Framing of the Time–Table viz. Daily Routine, Class wise, Teacher wise, Remedial and Supervised time–table.
  • Duration of each period must be 35 or 40 minutes.
  • Music, Art, Library, period can be provided in the afternoon session.
  • Only the concerned subject teachers are to be put on duty for remedial teaching.
  • Only a few staff members will be put on duty during supervised study by turn.
  • The daily routine details of total no. of periods to be given to the teachers & no. of period to be allotted to each subject, class wise is given in this manual.
  • Framing of Special Time-Table for the personality enrichment of students.
  • The Coordinators are entirely answerable for the implementation of the activity/programme in a befitting manner. Record is must to be maintained. 

Career Education and Counseling….

School views counseling as a way of helping young students through talking and listening.

The child or young person is encouraged to express their feelings and thoughts about their problem so they can understand themselves and their behaviour better and therefore improve ways of coping. 

  • Offers a regular space and time to talk or think about worries or difficulties.
  • Helps young people explore their feelings and look at how they might want things to be different, by talking and using a range of activities.
  • May be about developmental issues, resolving problems, improving relationships, making choices, coping with changes, gaining insight and understanding, growing as a person.

 

Aim & Objectives:

 

  • Improving and enriching the existing counseling and career education program in the school.
  • To provide guidance to all the students at all level.
  • To assist students to plan, monitor and manage their personal and career development.
  • To address immediate concerns of the students.
  • To organize career related activities in the school.
  • To organize Youth Counseling Programs in the school on various youth issues.
  • To develop, co-ordinate and implement developmental and preventive programs.
  • To create awareness about the changing world of work, job opportunities and training institutes in the country.
  • To help students understand themselves better, thereby developing a positive self concept toward themselves and life.
  • To create awareness on the role and responsibility of youth in nation building.
  • To make students realize the importance of career in their life.
